The death of WoW Classic

It has begun.

My WoW faithful friends are experiencing a midlife crisis as their WoW Classic guild is dying. From 50 to 10. Those 10 being the most dedicated, abandoning responsibilities for raid schedules.

That means 40 income earners will be leaving their subscriptions behind. That means fathers will stop gleefully talking about WoW, maybe even MMOs around their kids. It sounds dumb, but loving parents have a large impact on their children.

This is the end that everyone with a knowledge of the WoW market knew was coming. The second gasp of WoW Classic was brief. The guilds will leave. The subscribers will unsubscribe. WoW will decline.

Once the decline starts it is difficult to stop. Xbox will shield it a bit, but shareholders want growth and Xbox is already struggling. The ABK buy was more bailout than acquisition. Blizzard was in a rough situation before they became part of Xbox. It is in a rough situation.

Blizzard has a very difficult future.
