Alarmo is actually pretty great
I have to get up early.
I have a motion sensing alarm clock so I can snooze my alarm with a wave of a hand.
It isn't a smart clock. It doesn't link to a Google Home server. It doesn't bog down my router. It doesn't listen for audio prompts or collect data.
It has an old school, 7-segment display that looks like a 1980s vehicle dash. It's audio options are annoying, or FM radio. It has a 120 plug for something that does a Raspberry Pi amount of work. I have to turn off the alarm with a switch on the side of the clock.
Nintendo Alarmo keeps the benefits of motion tracking, adds to them, removes the dying FM band, but doesn't replace it with constant spyware. It can also run on a USB battery back-up rather than needing a full UPS. $100 is steep, since it is half a Switch Lite for an alarm clock, albeit awesome alarm clock.
This is obviously the first of a family of devices. Like HMD, I can see Nintendo becoming the anti-phone, anti-social media company for kids. As someone that is moving away from the doom-scroll addiction, I can appreciate it.
