Xenoblade Chronicles X is a Remake

Nintendo World Report (amazingly) has already posted a comparison video of the new Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition with the original Wii U version and something really stands out.

Elma's face and hair aren't just refined, the proportions have changed. Her eyes are are more angular. Her jaw line is softer. Her bangs come up in a hard, anime angle instead of the softer, tesselated hair of the Wii U. This means Monolithsoft has replaced entire models in Xenoblade Chronicles X. They did more than just port the engine. They changed entire assets and, while seemingly slight, have changed the final art direction of the game.

Obviously there are plans for X, perhaps as a major cross-gen (get it!) title for Switch 2. Nintendo is on an interesting path.
