Bandai Namco: Oh no
It is no secret that Bandai Namco has relied HEAVILY on Fromsoft. From Dark Souls to Elden Ring, the publisher has supported an entire genre through funding the Kadokawa studio.
Now PlayStation is purchasing Kadokawa, which means PlayStation is purchasing Fromsoft.
But Fromsoft probably doesn't own the rights to Elden Ring or Dark Souls. So what does it mean of PlayStation buys the people that make the Bandai Namco IPs?
Probably the end of those IPs. Sony doesn't play ball with other publishers. Squaresoft has admittedly started to explore prioritizing multi-platform because of the severe lack of financial support from PlayStation when making exclusives like Final Fantasy XVI.
Bandai Namco is already reeling from the massive budget sink of Unknown 9. Can the company handle a large slice of income being devoured by Sony?
