Sony PlayStation made a parody of Starship Troopers called Helldivers for the PS3. Why parody an IP they own the film rights to? Nobody knows.

Now Sony is making a film adaptation of a game that is a parody of a film that Sony made.

There is an entire series of Starship troopers CGI films to accompany the multiple Casper Van Diem films.

But the value of the Starship Troopers IP has degraded after years of Sony control and Helldivers is now more valuable as an IP.

Sony is going to use the parody of the thing they ruined to essentially replace the thing they ruined.
